Cédric Moussé, the fourth generation of champagne makers, immediately impresses with his energy and passion. Although he grows some Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the emphasis is very much on Pinot Meunier; hence his slogan “Deeply Meunier”. In addition, this is the only winery admitted to the Club Trésors de Champagne based on 100% Pinot Meunier.
The grapes for this wine come from Cuisles, Jonquerry, Chatillon-sur-Marne and Vandiere in the heart of the Marne River valley. A delicate, pale gold leads on to good aromas of plums and stewed mirabelles with a touch of brioche. The palate is a combination of chalk, orange peel and a sophisticated silkiness that leads to a long dry finish. It’s hard to find a better Pinot Meunier at this level.
